About TaifaPay

Payments built for how Africa actually moves money.

We are an African payments company with two products: Taifa Chat, a social wallet for people, and Taifa Merchants, a collection and payout gateway for businesses. We started in Kenya and build outward from there.

Taifa means “nation” in Swahili — a nod to the idea that payments should work for everyone.

Whether you are splitting dinner with friends or running a business that needs to get paid and pay others, the money should move the same way: immediately, and without you thinking about the plumbing underneath.

Both products sit on the rails Africans already use every day — mobile money networks like M-Pesa, MTN MoMo, Airtel Money and Orange Money, and direct bank transfer. We did not set out to replace any of them. We set out to make moving money across them as natural as sending a message.

What we run on

The networks people already carry

Rather than asking anyone to change how they pay, we connect to what is already in their pocket.

Connected to 18 mobile money networks: M-Pesa, MTN MoMo, Airtel Money, Orange Money, Vodacom M-Pesa, Moov Money, Wave, Tigo Pesa, EcoCash, AirtelTigo Money, Telecel Cash, Zamtel Kwacha, Azam Pesa, T-Kash, Africell Money, TNM Mpamba, Zeepay, Paga.

What we hold to

Three things we do not compromise on

01

Built for Africa

Designed around the channels each market actually uses, rather than a template imported from somewhere else.

02

Secure by default

Every transaction is encrypted in transit and at rest, and monitored for fraud as it moves.

03

Instant by design

Money moves the moment it is sent. No rolling reserves, no waiting for a settlement window to open.
